Today marks 75 years since Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. At 7:48 AM on December 7th, 1941, 353 Japanese fighters, bombers and torpedo planes targeted the Hawaiian naval base. 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 more were wounded. The move nearly crippled the US Pacific Fleet. All eight American battleships were damaged with the Japanese sinking four. All but one of those ships, the USS Arizona, were raised and six of those battleships eventually returned to service in the war.
